When you should take professional advice

Probate is manageable for most straightforward estates, but some situations need a professional. If inheritance tax is likely to be due, or the estate involves a trust, a dispute between beneficiaries, foreign assets, or more debts than assets, take advice from a solicitor or accountant for those parts. Our materials point out these situations where they arise.

Accuracy

We work hard to keep our materials accurate and current, including fees, thresholds and form references, and we review them against official gov.uk sources. Rules change, and your circumstances are unique, so we cannot guarantee that everything applies to your situation. Official guidance at gov.uk always takes precedence.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for losses arising from reliance on our educational materials. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.
